Katie McPherson was born and raised in Etna Green, Indiana. Katie earned her Bachelor’s of Arts at Ball State University (Muncie, IN) in Telecommunications & Journalism. She later earned her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree from Full Sail University (Orlando, FL) in Film Production. She has been working in the entertainment industry for five years with a variety of experience in TV, radio, music, and film.

 

Her passion for the entertainment industry began when she first joined a student-ran morning newscast in High School. This was the first-time Katie ever touched a camera, mic, lights, switcher, etc. Her teacher saw the love that Katie had whenever she was working on the newscast and suggested she continued to pursue it.

 

From that point on, Katie took on multiple internships and became a leader at Ball State’s student-ran newscast called Newslink Indiana. She was fascinated with the production side of newscasts even though she was pursuing a degree in Journalism. She eventually worked her way up to big roles such as Assistant Producer and Live Director.

 

 She eventually left the state of Indiana to attend Full Sail University in Orlando. During her time at Full Sail, she helped create around six films where she was put in a variety of roles. She was a producer, editor, 2nd 2nd, and a grip. Katie was also the co-producer of her class’s thesis film titled Lemonade Stand. She is very proud of this film and is still waiting to see how it will fair at film festivals around the country.

 

Katie plans on staying in Orlando to pursue her dream of working in the entertainment industry wherever that may lead her.
